Sandnes, 28 January 2021 – Nordic Unmanned has accepted delivery of its first CAMCOPTER S-100 systems. The delivery was done after successful acceptance flight in Denmark. A new order for another CAMCOPTER S-100 system has been placed and this second system will be delivered in Q2 2021.
This acquisition comes after successful sulphur sniffer operations in Denmark and France with the use of CAMCOPTER  S-100. The CAMCOPTER S-100 was also recently operated in the world’s first full-scale offshore drone delivery to an active oil and gas platform, Troll A in Norway. These operations in 2020 were carried out by Nordic Unmanned with Schiebel Aircraft AG as a wet lease sub-contractor.
Nordic Unmanned are under contract with European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) to fulfil Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) services. The CAMCOPTER S-100 measures ships’ sulphur emissions to check compliance with EU rules governing the sulphur content of marine fuels. Measurements of SOx and NOx are transmitted in real time.
The CAMCOPTER S-100 operates day and night and can carry multiple payloads with a combined weight of up to 50 kg. Due to its minimal footprint and size, it is ideally suited for maritime operations.
Knut Roar Wiig, CEO at Nordic Unmanned, said: “It’s with great satisfaction, that we have successfully taken delivery of our first Schiebel CAMCOPTER S-100 system. This is according to our communicated investment plan and we plan to put this first system into operations in February 2021 under our current contract and look forward to the next system delivery.”
Lars A Landsnes, COO at Nordic Unmanned, said: “Increasing our extensive fleet of unmanned systems with the safe and reliable CAMCOPTER S-100 system further builds our complex operational offering of unmanned systems.”
The investment in CAMCOPTER S-100 includes full lifetime support, spare parts and training. Expected financial lifetime of the CAMCOPTER S-100 is 10 years. The investment is financed with a combination of equity and bank loan. Nordic Unmanned have chosen Norwegian prime ministers in the naming of its new fleet of CAMCOPTER S-100 drones, and the two new drones have been named “ERNA” and “JENS”.
